Thursday, July 2nd - Update

Mom had a good night again. Still waking up intermittently but she said she slept well. Yesterday she was pretty sleepy and they think it is because of the anti nausea medication she is taking before meals. She has been having more nausea and vomiting over the past few days which they think could be from the antibiotics as well as the amount of secretions she needs to cough up. They are trying to find the right balance so that she can keep down her food but isn’t so tired. 

Yesterday she had 3 walks and even did one walk with no walker! We were very excited about that. She will be on the high flow during the day and resting at night on the ventilator. Dr. Ardehali doesn’t think she needs the ventilator but the rest of the team feel like it is a safer bet as they want to transition her off the icu floor. They will not be downsizing her trach anytime soon. Chest tube will come out in the next couple of days.
