Be Kind And Smile Often Karine UCLA Lung Transplant

Morning update from Uncle David. (Since the rest of us are unable to be there, he has graciously given up his nights and most of his days to be there with mom.)

Continued excellent progress. Blood pressure normalizing. Oxygen level reduced from 45 yesterday to 35 today with 30 bring the min assistance for ventilator. She has pain but nothing which exceeds needs for normal pain med protocol. Strength improving. She rests but doesn’t sleep well at all.  This is normal and staff has told her she will begin to sleep better going forward. Removed central line this morning along with two of the four chest tubes. They eliminated two of the antibiotics today (not sure how many more there are).  Point is she is progressing at moderate to maximum range in all aspects of recovery.

New lungs did have a bacterial infection.  As a precaution K will receive additional 10-14 days of specific antibiotics for this pre-existing condition. I can see her increased physical strength / stamina from yesterday. She is incredibly lucid. They will be working on sitting her up and potentially standing a bit today.
