Wednesday, March 18th - Update

Mom has a really good day yesterday! Her vent settings are on the lowest they can be and she slept through the night with little pressure support. They might try a high flow trach collar sometime today (which is pretty much just oxygen flow and no pressure support). That would let her try out a speaking valve for short periods. She had two walks yesterday and the nurse said they were impressed she did two laps for her second walk! They are watching the antibiotics to make sure she isn’t having a reaction to them since she was experiencing some uncomfortable symptoms. But that could be due to the steroids. Everything else is looking great! 

New hospital policy is no visitors except for special circumstances (translation, power of attorney, when getting discharged etc) and it is hospital wide that went into effect today.
