Mom update!
Yesterday she did great! She is still on the low ventilator settings and slept well through the night on it. She is back in isolation after the doctors want to double check covid testing tomorrow. This means no walks around the halls but she is still able to sit in her chair. They have paused changing her gtube (feeding tube in her stomach) until after they have confirmed no covid. Also all non emergent surgeries have been canceled in the hospital. They will see how she feels today before trying the high flow but that will be next. All in all she is doing great!

Morning Karine update!
Another good day in the books! Still progressing and breathing more on her own. With everything going on the doctors want to be careful they don’t push too hard and so the next few days will have small incremental changes in her oxygen support. She is still under isolation and will do more COVID testing today. They have pushed back her week-post-transplant bronchoscopy until next week and then will scope and do a wash for some testing. She is still on antibiotics to protect against bacterial infection ( E Coli) in the donor lungs but her tests show no active infections. Yay!
She isn’t allowed out of her room so her walks are pretty short but the pt/ot have been giving her some good exercises. They are working on getting her lungs stronger so she can progress from the ventilator to the high flow oxygen to capping the trach to removing the trach. So lots of steps to move through, but the doctors feel great about how she is healing!
She has been having some stomach issues (a bit of food comes up now and then) and they are monitoring it closely. Blood pressure & blood sugar are under control & being maintained well. All in all great progress! She says thank you to everyone for your support 💕 as do we!
Much love!
