Monday, April 6th - Update
Dr. Ardehali and team have decided to give her 24 hours on the lower ventilator settings to see how she tolerates is before making a decision about what to do next. She will be walking on the low ventilator settings later today (8/5). If she does well they will continue to lower the settings and see if the left lung responds positively. Heart and bp are stable.
This morning they had to ultrasound moms legs due to increased swelling over night and found two clots. They are treating with elevation and increasing her heparin dose.
She already went on her morning walk and crushed it! Only one rest! She said it was hard but “you just gotta do it”. And she wants to go again later today! Seriously such an amazing lady.
Other good news is that the nutritionist has been working really hard to get mom a non-dairy formula (Kate’s farm) and has secured a few cases while we wait on the hospital to get more. In an effort to reduce any potential inflammation, avoiding dairy for mom is a good (yet small) step!
