Monday, May 18th - Update

Hi! It’s been a few days since the last update. Mom was doing really well but over the past few days has begun to get really weak and disoriented. Saturday seemed like a turning point. She woke up really groggy and weak and was unable to finish her walks. Yesterday was difficult and she felt very weird. She is looking and feeling a lot better today. Still really weak and not feeling great though. 

We’ve been talking with the doctors and they have all noted the decrease in moms mental / emotional state. Her oxygen use has gone up slightly. They also saw a decrease in the left lung from yesterday’s X-ray which could signal fluid build up. Possible reasons for the weakness / steps back could be a new infection so they are discussing starting her back on an antibiotic. It could be fluid related so they might increase her Ventilator time and decrease high flow. The only other change has been a new anti fungal medication but they don’t think that has any reason to cause a change. 

The plan for today is the same, she is on the high flow for a time, rest on the vent, back to the high flow and then sleep on the ventilator.
